PSYCHOSEXUAL THERAPY

Sex is an important and intrinsic part of a couple’s relationship. Even in loving relationships the sexual relationship can break down for any number of reasons. This can have a profound effect on the functioning of a couple and their ability to relate emotionally and physically.

Individuals can also be seen for psychosexual therapy. Problems around sex may be preventing you from forming or maintaining relationships.

The problems encountered by couples and individuals can be diverse and may be rooted in a wide range of issues, both past and present. They can include lack or loss of desire, orgasmic difficulties, sexual pain, problems with erections and premature or delayed ejaculation.

Couples can learn to rebuild the intimacy through an integrated programme: couple therapy - designed to resolve any underlying relationship issues - combined with a course of behavioural therapy comprised of a series of exercises which the couple undertake at home between sessions. The therapy, including the exercises, can also work for individuals.

I also have a network of other professionals to whom I can refer where appropriate, including gynaecologists, pelvic health physiotherapists and acupuncturists.
